Authorship Acknowledgment: This project was a collaborative effort. Dr. Zezhong Wang, a postdoctoral fellow at Simon Fraser University, played the primary role in creating this data comic, from narrative construction to finalizing the comic. Initially, Dr. Stephen Gruber, a professor at Carleton University's Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, and Dr. Sheelagh Carpendale, a professor at Simon Fraser University's Department of Computing Science, assisted with the conceptual development and story creation. They also provided feedback throughout the entire creation process, including script and visuals. Dr. Stephen Gruber is a permafrost scientist and ensured the science is valid and explained correctly. Zandria Sarrazin, a student at Carleton University's Department of English, and Dr. Michelle Levy, a professor at the same department, contributed to refining the script and language used in the comic. This project was funded by the Government of Canada’s New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF). This work was created in 2023.
